Environment: Disposals by the wayside
The environment agency delegated us with the analysis of an illegal disposal at the outskirts of a forest trail. After realized sampling, light optical and electron optical investigations can be realized contemporary to enable rapidly a hazard evaluation of the substance.
As a result, the deposited substance turns out to be drop-on material, which is applied on lane marking to increase reflective faculty. The examined drop-on material contained two different kinds of reflective glass beads.
Further, a so-called gritting material was blend into the sample, which improves the adhesion of the vehicles on the lane marking. These consisted in the case at issue of technical sintered quartz and precious corundum.
The present information helped to determine the hazard potential, as well as to limit the product range of drop-on material.
